Description

The Bellevue Palace is a Berlin palace in the northern part of Tiergarten Park. The official residence of the Federal President of Germany since 1994. The Bellevue Palace was built in 1786 by architect Michael Philip Bowman as the summer residence of Prince August Ferdinand, the younger brother of Prussian King Frederick II. Contrary to popular belief, the presidential standard is flown at the Palace even on many days when the President is not in Berlin. It is lowered only when the President takes up official residence elsewhere.
