Currently one of the buildings of the Law Faculty of the University of Berlin.nOn the site of the Old Palace, there used to be a city house built by 1688–1692 by Colonel von Weiler, commander of artillery of the Brandenburg Elector.nWilhelm lived in the palace on Unter den Linden for fifty years, after the end of the military exercises in October and before the spring parade in March. The palace has become a landmark in Berlin. Emperor Wilhelm could always be observed in the corner window of his office, when at noon he watched the changing of the guard at Neue Vahe. Emperor Wilhelm I died in this palace on March 9, 1888, in memory of him the corner window was forever curtained. After the death of Empress Augusta two years later, the palace of Emperor Wilhelm was opened to the public as a memorial center for the imperial couple.
